It's not jamais vu, which is when you feel like it's the first time something has happened despite knowing it's happened before, because I only ever get this when I know that it's not happened before, but that it will happen again.
I thought this was fairly common, but the people I was talking to at work had no idea what I was on about - does anyone else get this, or is it just another weird quirk of my brain?

I do, on the other hand, tend to experience cascading deja vu, when I have it at all. (This reminds me that I haven't had an intense deja vu spell since my mid teens, so going on a decade!) I'd start having a deja vu moment, recognizing all of the familiar elements and having that sense of split-second prognostication when suddenly I'd be overtaken by the sense that I was having deja vu about a moment I'd had deja vu about before, and I'd end up remembering the remembrance of the memory. Once one of these spells went on for minutes. It was very intense.
Hm, I wonder why I don't get deja vu anymore?
I never need to worry about what experience is going to give me deja vu, though, since like I said in the post I get an equally weird feeling telling me "you have not had deja vu of this before, but you will in the future". Equally weirdly, when I do get deja vu I know if I'm going to get deja vu of the same thing again, or if it's the last time I'll get deja vu of that particular event or whatever. It's like a mild, useless form of precognition.
I've never had cascading deja vu, though. Sounds like I should be grateful for that. O.o Brains are weird things. I wonder if anyone's had deja vu stop for a period of maybe a few years, and then had it start again?
